Empire Mantel Clock with Hercules, Paris c. 1810/15

Large Empire pendula clock with depiction of Hercules, leaning on a tree trunk, housing the clockwork. The enamel clockface is signed “Rodin à Paris”. The octagonal base with lion’s paw feet shows Hercules’ attributes as well as caduceus-ornaments on the slanted corners.
