Christopher Winter (1968) Torso II, 1995
Painting "Torso II" by Christopher Winter, 1995 in Tempera on wood behind glass. In multifaceted blue tones, a blurred male torso reveals itself against a dark background. Signed and dated on the reverse. Winter was born in 1968 in Kent, Great Britain and studied at the Camberwell School of Art, Camberwell, London. Between 1993 and 1994 he was a fellow of the city of Mannheim, Germany as Artist in Residence. This was followed by further studies under Prof. Fritz Schwegler at the Staatliche Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie between 1996-1998. This work was created during this phase. In the 1990s he was part of numerous group exhibitions, among others in London, Paris, Mannheim and Tokyo. Today he lives and works in Berlin, Germany and St. Leonards, UK and is a member of the artist group Special X founded in 2004. Recently, he has had solo exhibitions in Berlin, Miami and New York.
